As a socially responsible business, we have put increased measures in place in our quest to be as sustainable as possible, continuing our steadfast commitment to reducing our impact on the environment.
Local sourcing is at the heart of everything we do at Amadeus. We source produce locally, with 80% of our food and beverage suppliers being found within a 30-mile radius. Whether we’re operating at one of our home venues, or an event further afield, we source locally to reduce our impact on the environment and support local businesses and British farmers.
Animal welfare is of prime importance to us. We only serve free range, whole eggs at all venues and are working with suppliers to ensure this is replicated in all products containing egg by the end of 2021.
As a zero to landfill business, Amadeus is comfortable with ‘sustainable plastic’ due to its lower carbon footprint. The business has an average recycle rate of 80% and doesn’t have single use plastic on its premises.
We also source meat from Grade A British Retail Consortium approved suppliers in our commitment to British produce. A close relationship with the Marine Conservation Society also guarantees that only sustainably caught fish and seafood is served in our venues.
Food waste is a hot topic in the events industry and rightly so. It’s why we’ve also partnered with charitable scheme OLIO, who connect volunteer ‘Food Waste Heroes’ with our business to share un-used food with those in the community.
To date we have saved two tonnes of food from going to landfill and averted more than seven tonnes of Co2 emissions – for context this is equal to 924 laps of Birmingham’s ring road in a small family car!
