The UK’s largest gaming festival returns to the NEC for Easter weekend (15-18 April) with a predicted 40,000 gamers set to come together and game as part of the Insomnia community.
Presenting a weekend of non-stop 24-hour gaming, visitors have access to a series of features, including Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) parties and tournaments, an esports and competitive gaming zone, Fortnite tournaments, cosplay, stage championships, Minecraft and Call of duty gaming zones, a retro gaming zone and activities designed for kids who love gaming.
“This is a really special festival, which is based on a community who are passionate about gaming,” said Marketing Manager Phil Crawford.
“If you have a quiet day over the bank holiday weekend, it’s a great place to come with the family to enjoy all the entertainment on the main stages, gaming tournaments and the wider exhibition which includes gaming, PC and console brands. There’s plenty to get involved in for kids through to older gamers.”
Founded in 1999, the Insomnia Gaming Festival originated as the i-Series; a small event where gamers could come together and play together as part of one community. Today, the focus on bringing the community together is just as strong, growing it into the biggest festival of its type in the UK.
“Some of our gamers stay for the whole festival, camping in an adjoining NEC hall,” continued Phil.
“If you can’t make it for the whole weekend, there is a £25 day ticket which will deliver a packed day of fun and adventure for low-key to expert gamers. You’ll have the opportunity to play the latest and greatest games across PlayStation5, Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and there’s also the chance to discover some fantastic Indie games you might not have come across.
“Plus, for the more analogue gamers amongst us, there’s a wide range of tabletop board games to enjoy, plus the chance to meet a host of content creators linked to gaming.”
Insomnia is a diverse show for gamers of all backgrounds, identities and ethnicities to come together and celebrate everything that we love about video games and popular culture. From brand new and upcoming releases, Cosplay, Indie games, tabletop games, gaming content creators and much more, Insomnia Gaming Festival isn’t just a gaming expo, it’s a celebration of all things gaming.
