NEC Birmingham set to welcome AnimeCon UK

The NEC is hosting the UK's biggest anime expo, AnimeCon UK, at the venue in June. Celebrating the best of Asian pop culture, the convention will champion all vibrant corners of anime, K/J-pop, cosplay, gaming and more.

The event has recently joined forces with Fandom, the world’s largest fan platform, for one of the UK’s biggest pop culture gatherings. Debuting at the NEC from 17-18th June, AnimeCon UK will welcome over 15,000 fans to immerse themselves for two days and build thriving communities.

AnimeCon UK will boast an extensive list of international guests and exhibitors across two days. The jam-packed schedule also includes a dedicated artist alley, never-before-seen screenings and tailor-made panels featuring the world’s biggest creators.

The mammoth event has a 'music festival energy', combining the immense knowledge of anime experts and a live arena filled with mega names from Asian pop culture’s most popular genres. The full list of performers, artists, gamers, streamers and manga masters is yet to be released, but it will include an extensive list of international guests and exhibitors across the two-day event.

On the event, Clive Nørgaard Morton, co-director of The Fanatics Group, said, “We’re delighted to announce AnimeCon and bring the best of Asian culture to the UK on a scale never seen before. We can’t wait to welcome the fans in June and for them to make the convention their own.”

Shaun Jordan, Vice President of Europe at Fandom, said: "The anime market is currently worth over $25 billion and growing, with expectations valuing it will double before the end of the decade. Traffic to these communities on Fandom continues to climb, as interest in the anime sector broadens. Working with The Fanatics Group for the first Animecon event in the UK was a logical partnership that allows us to superserve our animefan base at this exciting fan-first event.”
